The AUWU invites you to a forum about FORCED INCOME MANAGEMENT which encompasses the mandatory participation of the ‘Basics Card’ & ‘Cashless Welfare Card’. These programs are directed in a targeted and discriminatory manner towards our most vulnerable — those living well below the poverty line.

On Wednesday, 29th of March, 1944 – upon the establishment of unemployment and sickness benefits, Robert Menzies said “People should be able to obtain these benefits as a matter of right, with no more loss of their own standards of self respect than would be involved in collecting the proceeds of an endowment policy on which they have been paying premiums for years”. In 2018, it is often described as ‘living in the age of entitlement’.
