Pay Increases… for some

Following a decision by the Remuneration Tribunal, the pollies and public servants will see a 2% pay rise from today.

Malcolm Turnbull will get an extra $10,600 per year for a nice $538,460.
Michaelia Cash will see her remuneration jump from $350,227 to $357,248 (which is more than five times the average wage of $62,000).

And following a decision by the Fair Work Commission, the new hourly minimum wage rate takes effect today.
The new rate is $18.93 per hour or $719.20 a week.
This is an increase of 3.5% which amounts an extra $24.30 a week, or $1,263.60 a year.

This still does not match increases in cost of living in major cities.

Meanwhile, those on Newstart are expected to live on $40 a day.
