  1. I would like to help design a flier to be attached by tape to pedestrian traffic light posts close to but away from the main roads where providers are located in my local area so the staff will not see them and tear them down.
This would save on paper and time.
Your designs are good but the message needs to be punchier.
I’m not a graphic designer, I only want to rewrite the content.
Then you can post them as pdf and I will print them from my provider.
Please contact me through my email which you have already ASAP if you are willing to take some advice and work through my ideas.
I really want to do what I can to build this group up because it is essential.

  2. I too think this group is fantastic. Having worked in the federal public service for 13+ years and understanding how to read government policies (and having taken a voluntary redundancy) I have faced selective policy reading from my job network provider. Cherry pick the parts that suit and ignore the rest.

Reading the government policy on work for the dole, I know I am exempt because I only receive $70/week but my provider insists I am required to work 15 hours/week because amount of Newstart allowance is irrelevant. Not what the government policy says – need to be receiving the FULL allowance to be required to work for the dole.

I would be happy to work for the dole for Unemployed Workers Union, handing out information pamphlets at job search centres so we can all be informed.

  3. Read the post above and recalled how wrongly they seemed to have calculated the amount of time I waited for support after restructure. Everything done from an attitude of real meanness. Adds to distress of job loss- not allowed to spend redundancy payout on training or travel to visit ppl I’d been working with..or buying exciting computer equipment. Joined UWU yesterday, Would love to support by tweeting etc, but having some probs trying to do it

  4. You should be able to take these flyers to your local Federal Member’s office (any Party) and get them printed out for free. It is part of their role to facilitate education about people’s rights.

  5. Dear members

Please see below information regarding the use of electoral office printing equipment with regard to printing AUWU leaflets.
Members are also encouraged to support the AUWU via social media by posting any of the above information leaflets. The more people
know about the AUWU, the stronger we will be.

3.1.13 Use of Electorate Office Facilities by Community Groups
A Senator or Member may allow community groups to use electorate office facilities for minor purposes, such as to make local calls or small amounts of photocopying, as minor use falls within the broad parameters of electorate business.

However, in doing so judgment should be exercised as to what constitutes minor use, as excessive use of office facilities by community groups or individuals is an inappropriate use of Commonwealth resources.

Electorate office facilities may only be made available to not-for-profit organisations for non‑fundraising purposes, to satisfy the requirement that the activities do not constitute commercial business.

Senators and Members remain accountable for all use of facilities provided to them at Commonwealth expense and should ensure proper oversight of their use. This includes ensuring:

the safety and security of office equipment, facilities and documents
that when people from a community group use office facilities, they are supervised by employees who are familiar with the safe operation of the equipment and are able to provide assistance or instruction if required.
Senators and Members should note that, in addition to their duties to workers, they have duties under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the health and safety of any person is not put at risk from work carried out within their workplace.

  6. Good job have been banned from face book ,someone tampered with my file and I think face book is corrup, this was a warning from a solicitor.so I’m not going back.
